Tech Tip of the Week

Are you a Facebook user? Facebook recently enabled the option for you to use HTTPS (encryption), which should drastically increase security for users. To change the setting in your account, log in to Facebook and go to Account > Account Settings > Account Security. Tech Therapy recommends this option to all users, but especially those who browse from work, coffee shops, airports, or other public Wi-Fi provider.

Executive Director Robert LindseyThat was just one of the many compliments we received last month at the 2010 Houston Business Expo held at the downtown Houston Hyatt Regency when Tech Therapy revealed our brand new image including a new logo and website.

The new look was developed by our newly created marketing team, and offered attendees the first look at our newest menu of marketing and advertising services. The new Tech Therapy marketing division provides clients the same services as a traditional agency: radio and television advertising, internet marketing, direct mail, social media, and more.

Tech Therapy offers these services at the same no contract, flat-fee monthly pricing structure that we’ve been offering clients for their business technology services since our first day. The difference between the marketing services Tech Therapy offers

compared with other agencies is the strong technology backbone within the company, coupled with flat-fee pricing.

Many people ask me why Tech Therapy decided to add marketing services. I tell them that virtually everything that marketers and advertising executives do now requires a strong understanding of computers, technology, the internet, and the ability to work with technology as a creative medium. The future of marketing is online; Tech Therapy has always been an early adopter and accurate predictor of where technology in business is headed.

And where better to debut our new look and new business model than at the 2010 Houston Business Expo? In its seventh year, the Expo was hosted by the Houston Networking News Business Association and is one of Houston’s largest business-to-business focused Expos where thousands of Houston- and Texas-area professionals seek out solutions for their businesses. Tech Therapy recently signed on with the Houston Network News Business Association as a Silver Sponsor for 2011; we were proud to be an Anchor exhibit at the Expo.

We brought in a local gourmet coffee roaster who served fresh coffee all day, and our booth was staffed with our Senior Sales, Engineering, and Marketing teams. Our booth’s message describes what Tech Therapy guarantees businesses: Tech Therapy will drive revenue, reduce costs, and improve efficiency for your business. Visitors were served a hot cup of gourmet coffee and then had a chance to talk about business technology solutions with our Senior Engineers, or customer relationships with our Marketing experts.

I had a great conversation with a CEO who stopped by our booth. He’d spent some time speaking with our Senior Engineers, and commented, “I was really impressed with the engineers because they didn’t start talking in high-level techno-speak terms like most IT professionals. They spoke as business strategists who understood the concerns of managing a business from the executive level with an eye on both the short-term and long-term needs within our organization.” We couldn’t have gotten a better compliment.

I think I can speak for everyone here at Tech Therapy when I say thank you for a wonderful 2010. We’d all like to wish you a happy and safe New Year!
